Another Griffith Park Sunset | Last Hike of 2018

GRIFFITH PARK | HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA

We spent the end of 2018 the same way that we spent the end of 2017, hiking. Griffith Park is one of our favorite hiking spots in Los Angeles because the views of Hollywood, downtown Los Angeles and the entire LA Basin are spectacular. There are so many trails throughout Griffith Park that you are sure to find new adventures each time you go.

GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY | HOLLYWOOD, CA

We generally park either in the Observatory parking lot, if there is availability, or on Western Canyon Rd, leading up to the observatory. Over the past couple years they have started charging for parking on Western Canyon Rd. This time, we parked there but found that the new rates were $10 per hour and there is still a lot of traffic to contend with. That will be the last time that we park there. Going forward, we will park at one of the other free lots and extend our hike a little bit. If you have never been to Griffith Observatory, it is a must-visit place that you can add on before or after the hike. It is amazing day or night.

GRIFFITH PARK OBSERVATORY TRAILS PEAK

As you navigate the web of trails, the Griffith Observatory remains in view and provides for some incredible photos. Most of the trails are wide and well-maintained, making it accessible for most people. In nice weather, which is most of the year in LA, the trails are bustling with people staying active. The colors really come alive as the day wears on and around sunset, it is hard to beat the views. If you have never explored the trails in Griffith Park, I suggest packing some water and a camera and getting out there today.
