Visiting the Palace of Versailles Outside Paris

VERSAILLES, FRANCE

The Palace of Versailles was built in the 17th century by Louis XIII. When construction completed, what stood was a palace in excess of 720,000 square feet sitting on 37,000 acres of land. With 700 rooms, the chateau was a sight to see and the gardens legendary. This place was used by royalty as a retreat, was the seat of political power and then fell into disrepair following the French Revolution and the downfall of the Monarchy.

Today, the Palace and what is left of its grounds are a place that is included on almost every tourist that visits Paris. Make sure to plan for a full day of exploration to see just a portion of what this incredible place has to offer.

I hope you enjoy the photos from my trip to Versailles and stay tuned for more photos from my Paris travels.
