Exploring the Caves at Cabrillo National Monument

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

I have known about the secret sea cave in San Diego for a while now. Each time that I looked at heading down there, something always got in the way. Having to access the cave only during low tide, I decided to take a look at the tide chart. I wanted to match a late afternoon low tide with a full moon to make sure that I didn't have a problem with access. Arriving at Cabrillo National Monument in the early afternoon allowed for exploring the tide pools while waiting for sunset. The cave was awesome but very challenging to photograph with all of the different tones and lights. In the end, I was not happy with the photos. After visiting the beach, it was onto the cemetery to honor the fallen military members. Finally, no trip to San Diego is complete without a trip to Phil's BBQ.
