DODGER STADIUM | LOS ANGELES

My wife, Amanda, loves to run and used to run many 5K and 10K races in Brazil. She chose the LA Big 5K as her first organized run here in the States. I went to support - and take photos.

LA BIG 5K | LOS ANGELES

I staged myself just on the other side of the starting line to capture the front runners as they were preparing to begin the race. As the race began, it was incredible to see the vast numbers of people. Amanda had started too far back in the pack, way behind her pace, and I was not able to capture her crossing the starting line. Unfortunately, that also meant that she was stuck behind people that were walking, pushing strollers and just in the run to have fun. While there is nothing wrong with that, it gave Amanda quite a few obstacles to dodge and ultimately hurt her time.

LA BIG 5K FINISH LINE

As the crowd passed, I made my way to the finish line and not a minute too soon. I was able to get there just in time to see the first finisher cross the line - in 15:54! Amanda finished the race in 37:37 and I am super proud of her for that. I am excited to see her run in her next race and will be there to cheer her on. Check out what we did to celebrate after the race...
