Mt Soledad and Montgomery Field in San Diego

Mt Soledad - San Diego, CA

Mount Soledad is a popular landmark in San Diego and a great place to visit to take in the coastal views.  It lies just east of the ocean in La Jolla and overlooks La Jolla Shores and beyond to the north.  To the east, you can see Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and the F-18s that often depart the runways straight toward Mt Soledad.  There is a giant cross that marks the top of the mountain.  It is the perfect place to stop for a bit to just relax and enjoy the views or to bring a picnic and spend a couple of hours.

MONTGOMERY FIELD – SAN DIEGO, CA

Montgomery- Gibbs Executive Airport or better known as Montgomery Field is an airport in San Diego, just 6 miles north of Downtown San Diego.  It is a great alternative to San Diego International when flying into San Diego (general aviation).  It is also a great spot to come watch the planes take off and land.  Kearny Villa Road is a frontage road that runs along the 163, just along the edge of the departure end of runways 28L and 28R.  It offers a great spot to get a unique perspective down the runway while watching the planes take off and land.
