Visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa for the First Time

PISA | ITALY

Is an Italy trip complete without a trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa? We didn't think so. We made it a point to schedule some time during our tour of Italy to stop and be sure that the tower was still leaning. They have not stood it up straight and it has not fallen over yet so if you are in the area and haven't seen it - do it.

LEANING TOWER OF PISA

While I am sure that there is a lot of things to do and see in Pisa, the most famous is the leaning tower. We didn't have a lot of spare time in our itinerary but we did make sure that we saved enough time to stop by for an hour, take our obligatory selfie and have some dinner. Parking is the biggest struggle around the tower but we were able to find street parking just a few hundred meters away. The area is very touristy, as expected, but it is safe and the folks are friendly. We did not climb the tower but did enjoy a nice sunset on the lawn (or at least on the sidewalk near the lawn). Afterwards, we grabbed a quick bite to eat at one of the many nearby restaurants before continuing our journey to Cinque Terre. Make sure you allocate some time to visit this icon of Italy and until then, enjoy the photos.
